Terms of Use & Fishing Information
Last updated October 20, 2026
The service
Texas Fish & Water provides a source-based guide to Texas fisheries, species identification, harvest rules, consumption guidance, weather, water observations and access information. The service is operated by REIGN Fishing. This independent guide is not produced or endorsed by TPWD, DSHS, NOAA/NWS, USGS, TWDB, USCG, NPS, FWC or other source agencies. Contact: contact@texasfishandwater.com.
Rules and source updates
We aim to present accurate, verified information and identify missing or unconfirmed facts. Regulations, licenses, emergency orders, consumption restrictions and facility rules can change after a source review. A review date is not a guarantee that no later change exists. The governing law and applicable authority’s current rules control if a summary conflicts with them. Lake-specific rules may differ from statewide defaults, and border waters may have additional licensing or jurisdiction requirements. Read the full rule shown for your lake and fish, including combined bags, possession limits, slots, seasons and gear restrictions.
Fish identification and eating guidance
Fish images and identification descriptions are reference aids. Artwork can vary from an individual fish’s appearance and does not establish species identity. Lake imagery is decorative artwork, not a live camera or evidence of present shoreline conditions. Fish-consumption advisories and harvest rules serve different purposes: permission to keep a fish does not mean it is safe to eat. The absence of a listed advisory is not a safety guarantee. Follow the applicable health authority’s guidance, including species and population-specific restrictions; seek qualified medical advice for individual health concerns.
Weather, water and boating safety
Weather forecasts are predictions and observations are measurements at a particular place and time. Nearby weather may differ from conditions on the water. Read the observation time, forecast issue time, source and any retained-data notice. Water elevation, conservation storage and conservation-pool reference elevation are different measures. None establishes that a particular ramp is usable or a route is safe. Access listings do not certify current opening, water depth, fees or closures unless explicitly supported by a current notice. Coastal tide curves and upcoming highs and lows come from NOAA CO-OPS astronomical tide predictions; observed levels come from NOAA station measurements. Texas Fish & Water plots those data and does not create an independent tide forecast. Astronomical tides do not capture all weather-driven water-level changes. Tide height relative to a named reference is not navigable depth or current speed. USCG navigation notices, DSHS harvest status and local access notices are separate references, not a certification of safe passage or open facilities. This guide is not an emergency-warning system, navigation chart or rescue service. Check active warnings and local authority instructions before launching; call emergency services when needed.
Your use of the service
Public fishing information may be browsed without creating an account. You must be at least 18 to create or use an account or submit a contact message, waterbody request or community report. Do not create accounts for children or submit children’s personal information. Use the service lawfully and respect public-access rules, private property, wildlife protections and other users. Do not attempt to access private records, defeat access controls, overload the service or submit malicious or unlawful material. Do not impersonate another person or disclose private information you are not authorized to provide.
User accounts
Accounts are optional and available only to adults age 18 or older. Signup requires your adult self-attestation and agreement to these terms; it does not independently verify your age. Keep your credentials private and use an email address you control. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. We may restrict accounts used in violation of these terms, including accounts for people under 18. Creating an account does not subscribe you to optional email or site-announcement notifications. These require separate choices described in the Privacy Policy. Use Delete my account in your account settings, or email contact@texasfishandwater.com from your account email for deletion help. Verification is required before we disclose or act on private account information.
Notifications and saved reference tools
Water Watch and optional TFW announcements depend on the permissions and choices you enable. Checks are periodic, and connectivity, source outages, browser or operating-system settings can delay or prevent delivery. Browser permission alone does not confirm that a device registration or message delivery succeeded. These notifications do not replace official emergency alerts or safety decisions. You may change optional TFW announcement choices in your account and stop device notifications through your browser or device notification settings. Snapshot downloads are dated reference images and do not refresh after saving. Forecasts for a selected date remain forecasts, and rule summaries are not a prediction of future regulations. Verify current official rules, access and conditions before relying on a saved reference.
Trip meeting links
Confirm that your chosen meeting point is lawful and accessible. A pin, route or lake reading does not establish public access, ramp usability, safe navigation or conditions at the point. Shared times display Central Time; verify plans directly with the person who shared the link. Anyone with the link can view it until expiry or cancellation. Links do not provide live tracking, replies, emergency monitoring or a rescue service. Weather is dated lake-area forecast information and may not cover a future meeting time. Cancel or replace the link when plans change; recipients may retain copies already viewed.
Community reports
Only report catches you made today and identify the species accurately. Do not fabricate reports or misuse accounts to manipulate counts. Community reports are unverified submissions, separate from official regulations, advisories, observations and species evidence. One report per lake, species and day is allowed, with a limit of ten per account daily. We may remove abusive submissions. Species follows show recent reports on the site; email alerts are not part of this release.
Trophy Atlas
Trophy Atlas displays entries from TPWD’s Toyota ShareLunker archive, including public angler names and recorded catch dates, weights and lengths. It is not a complete census of trophy catches. Counts depend on reporting and program participation, and do not establish fishing quality or your odds of catching a fish. Lake markers represent lake areas, not catch coordinates. Missing measurements are not estimated. The server checks the official export daily through scheduled maintenance; failed or invalid downloads retain the last dated archive. This is not real-time reporting, and it does not establish current fishing regulations, access or conditions.
Waterbody requests and corrections
Submitting a request does not guarantee that a water body will be added or establish a publication deadline. Additions depend on appropriate fishery scope and reliable source evidence. You authorize us to review the information you submit and use non-personal lake and source facts to maintain the guide. Optional contact information is used as explained in the Privacy Policy, not as automatic marketing permission. Requests are saved for review; submission does not mean an email notification was delivered. Report suspected errors to contact@texasfishandwater.com, ideally with the lake, fish, affected statement and official source.
Availability and saved information
Online features depend on the network, hosting providers and source services. Interruptions or delayed updates can occur. A retained reading remains a dated reading and should not be treated as a new observation. Guest saved waters use device-local browser storage. Optional accounts synchronize saved waters and home-lake choices when connected. Account saves depend on service availability; keep a separate record of information you need. Do not rely on this version as a guaranteed offline guide or account backup. We may maintain, correct or change the service as needed.
Content and outside services
Original branding, interface and artwork belong to their respective rights holders. Official-source material and third-party names remain subject to their owners’ rights and applicable law. Ordinary use and sharing links to the guide do not grant permission to redistribute all artwork or reuse Texas Fish & Water branding as your own. Links provide access to original sources and do not imply endorsement of third-party services. Their own terms apply when you use them.
Important limits
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided as available without a warranty that it is uninterrupted, complete or suitable for every individual trip. You remain responsible for your fishing, food-consumption and boating decisions. These terms do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, waive non-waivable consumer rights or excuse duties imposed by law. They do not turn a source summary into an official legal determination or personalized medical advice.
Updates and contact
We may revise these terms as the service changes. The date above identifies this version, and material changes will receive additional notice where required. These terms do not replace a separate agreement for any future paid service. Questions, corrections, accessibility difficulties and other service concerns can be sent to contact@texasfishandwater.com.
