Redbreast Sunfish
Lepomis auritus
No minimum length limit or daily bag limit for sunfish.

Identify your catch
A long, narrow dark ear flap and yellow to rusty orange belly help distinguish this sunfish. Blue-green streaks may appear on the cheek.
Habitat on Cisco
Rocky bluffs and points, flooded brush, willow-lined creek arms, docks and installed brush piles provide cover.
Fishing approach
Lake guide guidance: TPWD suggests sunfish baits such as worms and minnows, bass fishing around boulders and points, and spring presentations in willow cover.
Fishing guidance describes documented approaches, not a promise of fish activity today.
No active lake-specific advisory or possession ban was named in the reviewed DSHS directory. This does not guarantee that fish are safe to eat.
Harvest permission and eating restrictions are separate.
General species guide
Uses streams and some lakes. Feeds on insects, snails, crayfish and small fish; nests in shallow sand or gravel.
